State Unemployment Figures Released Posted on January 24, 2013
State unemployment figures have been released which show that, not taking into account seasonal employment for the holidays, Tennessee's unemployment rate has remained unchanged since November. State unemployment remains 7.6%.
The nation's unemployment is lower than that of the United States, which has also remained unchanged since November. Nationwide, unemployment is 7.8%.
Locally, Giles County's unemployment rate has risen to 9.2%, up from 8.5% in November. There are 1,250 unemployed people out of a work force of a work force of 13,530.
In Lawrence County, unemployment has risen 1.1%, from 10.1% in November to 11.2% in December. 1,900 people are unemployed out of a work force of 16,930.
Maury County's unemployment has risen to 8.8%, up from 7.9% in November. Figures show that 3,220 people are unemployed in Maury County out of a workforce of 36,680.
Marshall County's unemployment is at 10.8%, up from 9.9%. 1,320 people are unemployed out of a workforce of 12,260.
