Rep. Doss Addresses Commission Posted on January 22, 2013
State Representative Barry Doss addressed the Giles County Commission at today’s meeting. He announced that he has been appointed to the Business & Utilities Committee as well as the Health Committee.
According to Doss, the abuse of prescription drugs is one of the worst problems plaguing our community and he is hopeful that being on the Health Committee will help him do something about that.
Doss, who represents Giles and Lawrence Counties in the State Assembly, addressed other issues that he believes are contributing to the decay of society: the absence of God in society and the disintegration of the family unit.
In state issues, he reiterated that a bill has been introduced which would mandate that the state fund an SRO officer in every school. Although, he says, this would not be as helpful to the more prosperous counties that can afford it, it would be beneficial to counties like Giles and Lawrence that would have a more difficult time paying for it.
Rep. Doss also announced that his office is number 106 in the War Memorial Building and that he will soon publish all of his contact information so that his constituents will have multiple ways to contact him.
