Commission Met This Morning Posted on January 22, 2013
The Giles Commission met today for their regular bi-monthly meeting.
In addition to an address by State Representative Barry Doss, the commission voted to renew several notaries public as well as approve four new ones. They also voted to appoint Roger Reedy, Kristen Pheiffer, Larry Dickey, and Tracy Wilburn to 2 year terms to the Agricultural Extension Committee.
Reports from the county executive as well as various departments were approved, as was an amendment authorizing the amendment of the 2012-2013 budget. The commission also voted to authorize the approval of surety bonds for county officials and employees. Next, they authorized the highway department to perform work for the cities of Elkton, Ardmore, Minor Hill, Lynnville, and Pulaski and approved the county road list for 2013. Speed limit adjustments on three county roads were approved as well.
After much deliberation and discussion, they also voted to amend Private Act Chapter No. 133 of the Private Acts of 1996. There will be more on this later in the newscast.
The next meeting of the Giles County Commission will be held Monday, March 18, at 9:00 a.m. in the Giles County courthouse.
