Mayor and Aldermen Discuss Garbage Rate Hike, Re-Zoning Posted on January 17, 2013
The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Aldermen met today in a work session.
In addition to discussing the proposed paving of the road at Silicon Ranch, they continued the discussion of the proposed garbage rate hike. They are in favor of raising the rates 80 cents, 40 cents this year and 40 cents next year, to make them an even $10. According to the board, there has not been a raise in some years and this proposed rate hike is inevitable. The increased fund will allow the town to update its garbage collection system.
The board also discussed a main pump station as well as heard from a company who hopes to build an apartment complex on Magazine Road. Before they can do this, though, they will need that area to be re-zoned from an R-2 into an R-4, as the other apartment complexes in the area are zoned. There was some question as to the amount of traffic this proposed 50 unit complex would bring to the area, but they were assured that the roads in that area are designed for that amount of traffic. In addition, Mayor Pat Ford stated that since their goal is to expand Pulaski, then increased traffic is going to be a side effect of that.
The board will next meet for their regular session on Tuesday, January 22, at 12:00 p.m. as well as January 31 at 12:00. Both meetings will be held in City Hall and are open to the public.
