Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrations to be Held Monday Posted on January 17, 2013
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrations will take place on Monday. The Giles County branch of the NAACP has organized a program featuring a unity march, youth program, and evening program.
The unity march will begin at 10:45 a.m. Anyone who wishes to participate is asked to meet at the courthouse gazebo.
The march will be followed by a youth program, to be held in the Bridgeforth Middle School cafeteria at 11:30 a.m.
That evening, there will be an evening program at 6:00 p.m. held at Matthew’s House of Praise on East Woodring Street. The speaker will be Rev. Jeremiah Gardner.
Because this day is a federal holiday, all banks, schools, and government offices will be closed Monday. In addition, Monday’s garbage will be picked up along with the normal Tuesday route.
