Athens Fire Destroys Church

A large fire destroyed Cherry Grove Baptist Church in Athens early Monday morning.
The fire started around 4:45 a.m. The church is at the corner of Cherry Grove Road and Thacker Street. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Church leaders are considering a nearby community center for a place of worship until they determine if they will rebuild on the same site. The church has insurance to cover the damage caused by the fire.
