BQA Changes for 2013
Posted on January 10, 2013

The Beef Quality Assurance Program is having some big changes. They are transitioning to a three year schedule for re-certification. All producers who certify or re-certify between now and June 15th will have an expiration date of November 1, 2015.

The BQA fees for certifying by June 15th will be $30 for non-members of the TN Cattleman’s Association and $15 for members. Producers who take the training after June 15th through the end of the year will have a November 1, 2016 certification expiration and will be subject to the new pricing guidelines. Non-members will be charged $40 for the three year period while members will be charged $20. Any producers who are not members of the Cattleman’s Association can join at the time they participate in the BQA training and will receive the member’s discount.

All who participate in the BQA training will continue to receive a certification card with the only change to include the standardized expiration date.

UT Extension has scheduled some BQA classes for this winter. The first will be held January 22 at 5 pm, followed by February 19 at 12 noon and 5 pm, and March 5 at 12 noon and 7pm. All classes will be held at the Giles County Extension Office. Producers planning to attend one of these sessions should contact the Extension Office to register at 931-363-3523.
