Doss Attends Law Enforcement Committee Meeting

State Representative Barry Doss attended today's (Friday) Law Enforcement Committee meeting. He updated the members on some of the legislation regarding school safety that is likely to be proposed in the new session of the State Legislature once it convenes next week.
Doss stated that one member is planning to introduce a $60 million initiative for a school resource officer in every school.
He also related that another representative is planning to introduce a bill that would let each school district make a decision as to whether they will allow specially trained teachers to carry to school. These teachers would be trained like an SRO.
According to Doss, there are likely to be many bills introduced in the next thirty days that deal with school safety and violence in schools.
Doss also revealed that when he is moved from his current temporary office to a permanent one he will run an ad in the newspaper with all of his phone numbers, home, cell phone, and office so that his constituents can keep in contact with him. He also plans to send weekly emails and summaries of proposed bills to anyone who signs up for his email contact list.
Representative Doss was surprised when the committee and
principals were unanimously in favor of an SRO in every school. He said that tells him how to vote on that issue.
