Batteries Missing In Muscle Shoals Posted on January 02, 2013
A string of car burglaries concentrated along one Muscle Shoals street has investigators concerned.
Police worry the stolen items may be used to make drugs.
Instead of going for the valuables inside the car, police say this time the thieves went for what was under the hood.
According to Florence investigators, someone pried open the vehicles, and stole the car’s batteries.
Six cars parked along East Limestone Street were burglarized during the early morning hours, Tuesday.
In one of the vehicles, thieves also disassembled part of the exhaust system.
While the usual target for car break-ins are cell phones or GPS units, detectives say in this case, the thieves probably stole the batteries for the lithium and sulfuric acid in order to make meth.
If have any information concerning these break-ins, you can call the Shoals Area Crime Stoppers tipline at 256-386-8685.
