Columbia Dollar General Robberies Similar Posted on December 27, 2012
There are remarkable similarities, and two very striking differences, between the armed robberies in December of two Columbia Dollar General stores.
“We’re aware of the similarities,” Columbia Police Lt. Jeremy Alsup said after viewing security video of the latest robbery, “but it doesn’t appear they are the same individuals. “
In each case, the first on December 2nd and the second on Sunday two men with bandanas over their faces entered the store, demanded money at gunpoint, and apparently left on foot, according to police reports.
There were differences, as described by witnesses. In the first incident, both suspects were described as black, and in the second the suspects were discribed as white. In addition, one suspect was armed with a handgun in the first robbery; in the second, both were described as carrying long guns, either rifles or shotguns.
Police are asking anyone with information about either robbery to contact the Columbia Police Department’s Detective Division, (931) 380-2721, Crimestoppers, (931) 381-4900, or the S.A.F.E. Tip Line, (931) 380-2930, Tips can be offered anonymously.
