Columbia Veterans Clinic Now Open
Posted on December 11, 2012

Veterans who have served in the U.S. armed forces know the true meaning behind the phrase, “freedom isn’t free,” and now those in Middle Tennessee who sacrificed to protect those liberties will have convenient access to health care tailored specifically to their needs.

More than a hundred veterans and their families, local and state elected officials and health care professionals huddled beneath a white tent in the parking lot at 833 Nashville Highway Monday to celebrate the grand opening of a 7,500-square-foot Veteran’s Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.

The clinic, which is operated by Valor Healthcare Inc., has already served 300 veterans, and 800 more have signed up for appointments, TJ Rose, director of outreach for Valor Healthcare, said.

The clinic’s opening was nearly a decade in the making and was delayed several times because of economic challenges.
The facility offers primary and mental health care and has many amenities built out of consideration for patients with varying disabilities. Large windows inside offer both privacy and an airy feeling by design for veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

In exam rooms, private restrooms, privacy walls and special exam tables built to lower to all types of wheelchairs offer accessibility not often found at other physicians’ offices.

For more information about the clinic or to make an appointment, call (931) 981-6930.
