Special Session, Election for County Commission

A special session of the Giles County Commission has been called for 9 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, at the Giles County Courthouse. The purpose of this meeting is to fill the vacancy for County Commissioner in District 5, approval of the Economic Impact Plan for Bre’s Place at Giles Center, and issuance of the Certificate of Compliance for TennSouth Distillery by County Executive Janet Vanzant. Comments from citizens will be heard regarding the Certificate of Compliance.

This meeting will serve as a special election in order to elect a commissioner from District 5. This position will fill the vacancy left by Bill Holt.

Anyone who lives in District 5 and wishes to be nominated for this position is asked to call the County Executive’s Office at 931-363-5300, no later than Friday, December 14, at 3:00 p.m. This will give the County Executive’s Office sufficient notice that they are running. If not, they are, still allowed to request that they be nominated as long as they attend the meeting. All candidates are asked to be present for the meeting.
