Public Safety Subcabinet Forum Tomorrow
Posted on December 05, 2012

Tennessee Govermor Bill Haslam, along with his public safety subcabinet working group, will hold a forum on Thursday, December 6th in Nashville to update the public and key stakeholders on the progress of the public safety action plan introduced last January.

Several members of the subcabinet will make presentations on the challenges of meth and prescription drug abuse, domestic violence and child sexual abuse, and gang violence.

Stakeholders, including law enforcement officials, prosecutors, state legislators, social services and health care providers, and victims' rights advocates, will be in attendance.

The mission of the public safety subcabinet working group is to implement a measurable action plan designed to have a significant impact on crime in Tennessee and help create a climate that fosters the creation of more and better jobs. The three key initiatives of the plan are to, reduce drug abuse and trafficking, reduce violent crime (in neighborhoods and in homes), and, reduce the number of repeat offenders.
