Holley & Loewen NAIA Scholar Athletes Posted on December 03, 2012
In addition to their achievements on the soccer pitch, Heather Holley and Jennifer Loewen were also recognized for their accolades in the classroom as both were named NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes, the league office announced Friday morning.
Holley, a 5-7 forward from Pulaski, started 12-of-19 matches for the RedHawks this fall, missing the other seven games due to an early-season injury. The junior biology major also earned a 3.65 GPA in the classroom.
Loewen, a 5-11 forward from Winnipeg, Canada, started all 19 contests for the RedHawks this fall. The junior Health and Physical Education major also earned a 3.68 GPA in the classroom.
In order to be nominated for NAIA Scholar-Athlete status by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
