Richland School Employee Suspended for Alleged Unprofessional Conduct
Posted on November 20, 2012

An employee at Richland School has been suspended without pay pending an investigation of allegations of unprofessional conduct.

A Giles County grand jury returned two indictments for Joseph Dunavant, 24, of Pulaski, who is accused of statutory rape. Dunavant turned himself in at the Giles County Jail Nov. 16 and was released the same day on a $2,500 bond.

“I was contacted by administration within the school system and told of an accusation at Richland School. I turned the case over to Investigator Chapman,” Sheriff Helton said. “This department’s investigation into the allegations remains active.”

Giles County Interim Director of Schools Debbie Braden said the school system has high expectations of professionalism and appropriate conduct for all its employees. “We hope these allegations have no merit,” she said
