Tennessee's Unemployment Rate Continues To Drop Posted on November 16, 2012
Tennessee Commissioner of Labor & Workforce Development Karla Davis announced today Tennessee's unemployment rate for October decreased to 8.2 percent, down from the September revised rate of 8.3 percent.
The national unemployment rate for October 2012 was 7.9 percent, 0.1 percentage point higher than the September rate.
The Economic Summary: Tennessee's October unemployment rate is the lowest rate since June, over the past year, Tennessee's unemployment rate declined from 8.9% to 8.2% or .7 percentage points, while the national rate declined from 8.9% to 7.9% or 1.0 percentage point.
For the month Giles County's rate was 8.8% down from 9.4% in September. Lawrence County's rate was 10.3% down from 11.2%, Lincoln County's rate was 5.2% down from 5.7% , Maury County's rate was 8.9% down from 9.7% and Wayne County's rate was 10% down a full percentage point from September.
