Maury Regional Medical Center Recognized Nationally
Posted on November 15, 2012

Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia was recently one of 12 organizations in the United States to receive a site visit for consideration for the prestigious 2012 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest Presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement and visionary leadership. Although they did not receive the award, they were the only health care provider to be recognized for best practices, receiving recognition for Workforce Focus and Strategic Planning.

“The employees, physicians, board of trustees and volunteers have worked diligently to elevate Maury Regional Medical Center to become a national role model for health care. I am immensely proud of this organization and our commitment to continuous improvement as we strive to provide the very best of care to every patient, every day,” said Robert Otwell, who initiated the Baldrige performance excellence model at Maury Regional Medical Center when he arrived as CEO in 2005 and who will soon be retiring.

Rich Umbdenstock, president of the American Hospital Association, congratulates Maury Regional Medical Center for its efforts in creating a healthier community, saying. "Their ability to engage all stakeholders in the community to improve performance serves as an example for our field as hospitals across the country continuously pursue better outcomes for the patients they serve.”
