GCHS Now 12-0 After Romp Over Notre Dame 47-7 In 2nd Playoff Round Posted on November 11, 2012
The Giles County Bobcats advance to the quarter finals in their conquest to win the State Championship as they played well near a perfect football game to defeat Notre Dame 47-7 on Friday night before a rocking crowd at Sam Davis Stadium. The Bobcats' offense, defense and special teams all contributed. Cameron Ordway stepped in front of a Notre Dame pass and raced it in 20 yards for the first TD of game just 15 second into the game. Then the strong Bobcat defense did it again with a big fumble recover at the Fighting Irish 40 and the offense took over and Neiko Walker took it out from the one to put the Bobcats up 14-0. Walker took it out from 37 yards out the next possession to put the Bobcats up 20-0, still in the first quarter. Notre Dame took a game of it with a touchdown after an 80 yard drive to cut the lead to 20-7 but that was as close as they ever got. After both teams played some fine defense, the Bobcats took off over the good. Al Cobb hit Tyrell Reed for a TD as Giles went up 27-0 late in the half and then Will Harrison blocked a Notre Dame punt and Ben Bates returned it back to the 13 yard line. The Bobcats got a first and goal at the three with 34 seconds left in the half when Cobb hit Kenton Baker for an outstanding catch for a TD and the Cats led 33-0 at the half. n the third quarter the Bobcats added two more TDs on two more touchdown passes from Cobb to Waker and May to make it final 47-7.
In game notes:
