Lady Bobcats sweep tourney, dominate honors

Giles County High School Lady Bobcats won the District 12A-AA championship game last night shutting out Fairview 2-0 in Centerville, TN. Not only did they "run the table" during the regular season posting 13 wins, no losses & 1 draw, they swept unbeaten through the district tournament.

Shelby Sanderson score the first goal of the game on a cross from Bailey Sumners in the 27th minute of the first half. The second goal came from Kate McComiskey unassisted in the 5th minute of the second half.

The win not only allows the Lady Cats to advance to the state regional tournament, it gives them home field advantage by allowing Giles County to host the regional round as the number 1 seed in the tournament.
District Awards were also handed out last night and the lady Bobcats brought home the vast majority of them: Players that were selected for the "All District Team" were announced last night. These players were awarded this honor for their play throughout the entire regular season. Those receiving honors were: Katie Carvell Taylor Jenkins Kate McComiskey Ellen Garner was chosen the district's "Most Valuable Player" for the 2012 season The "All District Tournament Team" was also announced last night. Receiving accolades for a job well done in the tournament were: Kate Wallace Bailey Sumners Taylor Jenkins Ellen Garner Katie Carvell was selected as the tournament's "Most Valuable Player". Giles County will play District 11 runner up Community on Tuesday.
