One Loretto High Student Killed, Another Critically Hurt In Accident

It was a deadly night on Lawrence County roads last (Wednesday) night. One senior at Loretto High school was killed and another student was critically injured in a head on traffic accident on the Old Florence-Pulaski Road in Lawrence County on Wednesday night. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 17 year old Rianna Watson of Leoma, died in the accident and her best friend Tanna Presnell of Loretto, was injured and was flown to Vanderbilt. Both young girls worked at the Loretto Sonic. Ms. Watson was the driver of a 2002 Envoy. State trooper Kyle Burleson said her car crossed into the path of a Freightliner “box truck” driven by Brently Cheek. He was not injured. In the other deadly accident, two Lawrenceburg men died in a single car accident on the Weakly Creek Road early this (Thursday) morning. State troopers identified the victims as 28 year old Lloyd Bentley and 32 year old James Brad Abbott. 33 year old Jenifer Branham was injured. State Trooper Burleson said Bentley lost control of his 2009 Altima, ran off the road and the car struck a tree. They were ejected from the car according to the highway patrol report.
