Blackburn Calls For Tax and Spending Cuts In Giles Visit
Posted on October 10, 2012

Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn campaigned in Giles County on Monday.
Giles and Lawrence Counties have been added to the 7th congressional district and Rep. Blackburn is running for the first time in the new district in the November election.
Blackburn says its time to “make tax cuts permanent and make spending temporary”.
Blackburn is calling for a five percent sending cut that she says will cut into the “baseline” and each government department will have to come before Congress to “justify every penny they spend.”
She is also calling for ending the so called “death tax” and to keep the Tennessee sales tax deduction permanent.
"That was the first bill I passed when I was elected to Congress."
She also says there’s too much government regulations that are hindering business. She pointed out some unneeded EPA, OSHA and IRS regulations that she says are hurting business growth.
“Jobs do not come from the federal government,” she said. “They (federal governement) need to get out of the way so that local governments can take the lead for job creation.”
Blackburn also threw her support behind Republican Senate candidate Dr. Joey Hensley and Republican State House Candidate Barry Doss.
Democratic opponent Credo Amouzouvik is opposting Blackburn in November.
