Giles Child Development Center Hosts Free Parent Training Workshop

The Giles County Child Development Center is hosting a free parent
training workshop, BASIC rights: A parent’s introduction to Special
Education, Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5-8 p.m. Each family will receive a
Parent Manual that includes important federal and state laws regarding
special education and other helpful tools. Register to attend by
calling Patty Clifton, 424-1816. STEP, Inc. (Support and Training for
Exceptional Parents) is a federally-funded program that provides
information, training and support to parents of children with
disabilities, as well as their rights provided under IDEA (Individuals
