Exchange Club Names Markeyta Bledsoe And Al Cobb As Sept. Students Of The Month Posted on October 02, 2012
The Pulaski Exchange Club has named Giles County High School seniors
Markeyta Bledsoe and Al Cobb as the September Exchange Club Students
of the Month.
Both Giles County and Richland high schools’ staff and faculty select
students throughout the school year based on superior qualities of
leadership, scholarship, school citizenship and industry.
Bledsoe has been involved at GCHS as a member of the Lady Bobcats
Varsity Basketball team, taking stats and filming all games. She is
the vice president of Student Council, senior class secretary and a
member of the Interact Club.
Bledsoe is currently enrolled in and has previously taken honors
courses and college preparation classes. She is a GCHS aide in the
main office, serves on the yearbook staff and is helping with
broadcast journalism.
The Bank of Frankewing Advisory Board participated in homecoming her
senior. She helps with food drives and visitations with her church,
where she also helps with Judgment House every year.
Cobb, the youngest child of Jerry (Bubba) and Donna Cobb, has focused
on academics and will receive an honors diploma with his senior class
in May. He has been a varsity starter on the football team for three
years, receiving All Region and All State awards in 2011. He currently
has the highest grade point average on the football team and is
involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program.
Cobb is a member of Wales Baptist Church, is active in the Wales
Baptist Church Youth (WBCY), is a member of the choir and very
involved in the volunteer ministry of the church.
After graduation, Cobb plans to attend college, hopefully with a
> football scholarship, and will pursue a career in some area of the
medical field.
Bledsoe and Cobb are now in the running for Student of the Year, which
comes with a $1,000 scholarship and the chance to be selected to
represent Giles County in district competition.
