Tyler Smith To Play For Israeli Professional Team

The Allegiant Athletic Agency announced this weekend that former Tennessee
basketball player and Pulaski native Tyler Smith, has signed a one year
deal with the Israeli basketball club, Hapoel Holon.

The 6-foot-7 forward spent last season with the German team, BBC Bayreuth.
Smith appeared in 32 games and posted an average of 6.3 points and 6.1
rebounds per game while playing for BBC Bayreuth.

Smith was born in Pulaski, and was a hoops star at Giles County High
School. He scored 26 points-per-game in his senior season and was awarded
the title of Tennessee Mr. Basketball in 2005.

Following his illustrious high school career, Smith initially signed with
the Iowa Hawkeyes where he started 29 games and was named to the All-Big
Ten Third Team and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

After completing his freshman season in 2006-2007 at Iowa he transferred
to UT to be closer to his ailing father

While at UT Smith averaged 14.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in 2 ½ seasons.
