Election Day Finally Here
Posted on August 02, 2012

Today is election day in Giles County and voters will decide if they want to change the current form of government to a Home Rule Charter. The issue has drawn much discussion and you can’t drive anywhere without seeing a sign urging you to vote yes or vote no on the charter issue. In another county wide race Johnny Bell and Tommy Hyatt are facing off for a four year term as Assessor of Property. If the past holds true, many of those who will vote have already done so in early voting. 1,928 early votes were cast this year. Two years ago over 47 percent of the total vote was early voting. The polls will open at eight and close at seven in Giles County’s 14 polling places. There’s been one location change. Prospect voters will now vote at the Almeda Gilbert Fellowship Hall, at 230 Main Street in Prospect.
