Early Voting Sees Good Turnout For Aug. 2 Election Posted on July 30, 2012
Early voting is over in Giles County with a rush to vote early on the last
two days. Friday was the busiest day of early voting as some 300 early
votes were cast. 183 early voters cast ballots on Saturday morning before
the early polls closed at noon. In all, there were 1,817 early votes in
this year’s early voting period. Sixty three percent of the early votes
were cast in the Republican Primary were the are two contested primaries.
1,157 voted in the GOP primary and 528 voted in the Democrat Primary.
132 voted in the general election and in neither primary. Thursday is
election day and the polls will open in Giles Counties’ 14 precincts at
eight and remain open until seven. WKSR will have extensive election
night coverage beginning shortly after the polls close on both WKSR AM and
FM.
