Record Breaking Heat Wave To Continue Through Weekend In Giles County Posted on July 06, 2012
The record-breaking heat wave is expected to continue in Giles and surrounding counties through the weekend. The combination of triple digit temperatures and high humidity will produce heat indexes up to and over 105 degrees each afternoon. A heat advisory has been issued and will remain in effect until midnight Saturday night. Heat illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke are a real threat. Dehydration can occur quickly and the heat is causing drought conditions to worsen. Please take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside this weekend. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency and you should call 9-1-1-. And remember the no burn, no fireworks order is still in place until further notice.
