Giles Placed Under Heat Advisory By NWS Posted on June 28, 2012
The National Weather Service has placed Giles and surrounding counties under a heat advisory. The heat advisory is in effect from two p.m. Friday until seven p.m. Sunday. High temperatures are expected to range from 102 to 105. Heat related illness, such as heat exhasution or heat stroke are a real threat. Dehydration can occur quickly. The extended period of heat will also cause drought conditions to worsen. You are advised to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Please remember to not leave children or pets locked inside a vehicle, even with the windows down as temperatures inside a car can become suffocating when exposed to direct sunlight even for a short time. Also remember to check on your elderly and disabled family members or neighbors.
