Paul J. Bates, age 84, of Lawrenceburg, died on Saturday, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia. He was a native of Lawrence County served as a minister of the Church of Christ for seven years, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Kearsarge.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM today and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM tomorrow (Tuesday) at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM tomorrow, with Joe Williams and Jeremy Gargis officiating. Interment will follow at Shaw Cemetery in Lawrence County.
He is survived by:
Wife- Louise Boyd Bates, Lawrenceburg
Daughter - Kim Bates Chunn, Smyrna
Sons - Paul A. Bates(Brenda), Columbia
Tim Bates(Leatha), Pulaski
Charlie Bates, Lawrenceburg,
5 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital or the youth group at Pulaski Street Church of Christ. Neal Funeral Home is in chare of the arrangements for Paul J. Bates
