GC Suicide Prevention Task Force "Reaching Out" Posted on November 11, 2010
The Giles County Suicide Prevention Task Force is sponsoring
“Reaching Out, Recovery and Remembering: Victims/Families of Crime and Families Affected by Suicide”, in conjunction with the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office and the Giles County Board of Education. This event will be from 12-1pm on Monday, November 22, at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home.
According to Pam Arnell with the Giles County Suicide Prevention Task Force, the event is open to any person affected by any crime or suicide as a remembrance for you, your family or friend.
During the noon hour, they are asking you to have a moment of silence and remember those affected by crime or suicide, and if you have a flagpole at your agency, to please lower your flag to half staff for that day.
Also, local peer educators will have information booths located in the Giles County High, Richland High, and Lawrence County High School cafeterias on November 22nd during the lunch period. Each booth will offer information and resources on suicide prevention and mental health, with an emphasis on teens and young adults and information about victims of crime.
For more information on the event or the work of the Giles County Suicide Prevention task force, contact Pam Arnell at 638-7131, Sherry Holley at 424-4030 or Teresa Williamson at 363-4558.
