Career Center Offers Vouchers For Elevate America

Governor Bredesen announced that Microsoft will be bringing their innovative Elevate America program to Tennessee. Microsoft and the Tennessee Department of Labor will be distributing almost 26,000 free vouchers for online technology training and certification. “This is a program that anyone over the age of 18 can take advantage of to increase their skills and knowledge in the Microsoft computer programs,” stated Jan McKeel, Executive Director of the South Central TN Workforce Alliance. “From a workforce stand, this is a valuable opportunity for jobseekers and anyone else to acquire the training needed to be productive in the working world of today.”
Distribution of the free vouchers began Wednesday, April 28th and will continue to be given out through July 26th. All vouchers must be activated within that time period. However, individuals have an entire year to complete their online training and to take their test for certification. Testing will be performed at the local TN Career Center. “The convenience of being able to complete the online training anywhere that has access to the internet is key. People can access it from home, the TN Career Center, the library, etc.,” explained McKeel.
