WKSR:
Parent Involvment Day
Posted on November 19, 2009

Today is National Parent Involvement Day in Tennessee. It is a day to recognize the critical role parents play in a child’s education.

“Parents are a child’s first teacher and we must encourage strong interaction between families, communities and schools,” says Governor Phil Bredesen. “Family involvement in a child’s education can only lead to success and higher achievement.”

The Giles County Board of Education and Giles County School System would like to express their appreciation to parents for volunteering for leadership on school committees and the PTA-PTO, for donations of supplies and materials and for providing assistance in so many additional ways to the schools and students of Giles County.

“It takes all of us to build school-home relationships and increase academic achievement,” says Director of Schools Tee Jackson. “Everyone working in the school system would like to thank parents and encourage you to continue to be involved in your child’s education.”
