Scam & Fraud Seminar To Be Held Tomorrow

With the holiday season upon us, citizens may find themselves victim to the many angles of criminal scams that -are more prevalent now than any other time of the year.

Martin Methodist College and The United Methodist Church – Pulaski District, are partnering for a free, information-packed event with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and the Better Business Bureau, Tennessee Valley. The subjects offered will cover critical points designed to educate the public for protecting and securing their hard earned assets.

Martin’s Professor of Management Information Sciences, Nan Wakefield, will reveal how computer savvy criminals invade lives through cyberspace. In her presentation, Prof. Wakefield will offer important information on Cyber-crimes and prevention from invasion through technology today.

The Better Business Bureau knows well “’tis the season” for predatory crimes such as identity theft and fraud. Tennessee Valley Branch Manager Becky Logue will cover current issues consumers face, as well as sound advice for securing an individual’s identity, and BBB resources for maintaining a smart shopping mindset.

Giles County Sheriff Kyle Helton offers “must-know” points on personal protection and home security. Sherriff Helton brings to the table training and expertise from the law-enforcement standpoint, and will provide essential guidelines for preventing criminals from claiming another victim.

Free to the public, this important event will be held tomorrow at 5:15pm in the Gallery of Colonial Hall on the Martin Methodist College Campus.
