The Tennessee Valley Authority began restoration on eight transmission river towers Monday.

The project will restore the strength of the foundation piles at the base of the structures lost due to corrosion. It will also improve the existing pile concrete encasements and extend the life of the foundation.

The construction is expected to be completed in December 2025.

TVA officials say drivers may see divers in the water and large equipment while construction takes place. Large barges will also be on the construction site near Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
